We are a European factory specialized in manufacturing Solid oak furniture.
Recently we ordered a scm tech Z5.
However we are wondering if it's possible to nest sheet material on it aswell.
90% of our production is solid wood, but sometimes for special orders we have to work with veneered sheets of melamine chipboard for the customers. So then it would be very handy to have be able to put some kind of vacuum table on the machine.
Is this even possible? because I have never seen this, or is it possible to put a sheet on it and then cut all the components out of it?
You certainly can to that I have seen people permanently convert there pod and rail to flat table and others that have made flat tables that fold down over pods so they can nest also people that just converted part of a long machine to flat table. These have been all different brands of machine that does not really matter.
Of course you can just throw large spoil board over your pods but your z axis would not be that accurate and you really need more vacuum and a plenum to spread it all out.
yes, you can work with veneered sheets of melamine chipboard for the customers.
Adjust the vacuum bars and suction cups position for whole wood sheet, if need cutting, had better use a spoil board under your sheet.
