I am considering swapping out my Dust Tech DT20, 20 HP collector
For a Dantherm (Disa) NFP-S-1000 Dust Collector 10hp. We have both units and I feel the Dantherm pulls as much air.
The Dust Tech is supposed to pull 7500 CFM through a 12" dust with 133 CF of dust bag.
The Dantherm is supposed to pull 4500-6000 CFM @10"-6" with 360 cf of filter area through a 14" round.
Our system currently terminates in 12" round.
I know this is basic info but the Dust tech is LOUD and inefficient. Any help is appreciated.
We ran up against this with our Rover 30 and the consensus was the cfm in 12" is the same, but the 10hp just can't produce the pressure (velocity) needed to pull the chips from the big dust shoe. I gave up on the 10hp and put a 15hp in its place and built and noise box over the damn thing (a Boshco and its like a jet engine) and lined it with sound panels from McMaster Carr.
Thanks our is enclosed in a sound resistant box it helps but it is loud.
The Quality of the Dantherm unit still makes me question things. It is the one with the 14" inlet. We could replace the main trunk out to the branches if we needed to.
7500 cfm without a fan curve chart means nothing. That number is likely unrestricted with no filters. Not to mention if it was really moving 7500 cfm, it should have closer to 750 sq. feet of filter area not 133. Looking at a competitors specs... 20 hp 3800 cfm @ 12" SP with 520 sq feet of filter area. You need to calculate your sp, get a fan curve for that unit to see what the cfm is at the sp you have, make sure you have about 10% of that in sq ft. filter surface area.
Something is wrong with the math!12" duct = .79 sq. ft. handling 7500 cfm means that the velocity through the duct is 9554'/min. Really fast! & each sq. ft. of filter is handling 56 cu. ft./min, a lot!
