Hello. New guy here. Although, I have spent countless hours reading various threads.. Not sure why I never signed up until now..
I do wood floors and I'm constantly experimenting with various finishing techniques..
Anyway, I'm looking for any tips on creating tannic or other reactions with wood. Now since I do this on a large scale (on entire wood floors), I'm not looking for the old steel wool and vinegar trick.. I'm looking for other ideas, tips, formulas to changing the color of wood through reactions like this.
I've recently ordered a tannic acid powder (for wine making), going to experiment with this for adding tannins to wood, seems like it will work better than tea since it's larger scale that I need it for. I've also ordered some Ferrous Sulfate powder to experiment with as well as some oxalic acid powder to experiment with making my own bleach solutions.
Wondering if anyone has experience with ebonizing, fuming, smoking, bleaching etc.. Would love to hear some tips and other methods.. I have some pretty decent knowledge I'm happy to share with regard to other finishing techniques.. Look forward to contributing to the site.
