Screws For Mounting Hinges On Plywood2/1
Looking to see if there is a screw available that would mount a hinge to plywood that would keep from loosening. This will be used on an adjustable table top. If you have any other options, your feedback is welcome. This will be used for a product that's intended to be massed produced for the market place. In other words, I need some solution that will not be labor intensive. Thanks for your help in this matter.
Not the cheapest alternative, but I would suggest threaded inserts with machine screws. Hope this helps,
Thanks David for your input. I may lean your way or the plug way. I'm still open for other alternatives of what may work. Is there a special screw available that might work?
first, a proper size counterboar to fit the screw used, then dip the screw into glue before driving it in or put glue into the hole.
Thanks Bruce for your suggestion, I will consider that.
I use nylon inserts as well. Not only do they hold in the panel, the screw will never come loose.
I would recommend that you have the assemblers tighten these particular screws by hand. It is perfectly fine to have them start the screws with a powered screwdriver.
It is too easy to get overzealous with a cordless drill or impact driver and strip out screws. Especially small ones like this.
If your looking for a premium screw, you may want to give Spax a try.
Thanks everyone for your input.
