What is the difference between a marking knife and a striking knife?
I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong but I was trained by a German Master cabinetmaker when I was young who told me that the two are opposite sides of the same blade. His take was that a single sharp edge made it a Marking Knife and two sharp edges made it a Striking Knife. Like I said somebody will surely correct me but that's what I was taught and most of what Herman taught was right!
In the end call it what you like! Keep yours sharp and you'll be half way to beautiful tight joints!
Hope this helps!
