AYC lumber grading?

What should I expect of a select finish grade AYC in terms of defect. Knots, pith, end checks, face checks,etc...
material is 10/4 x 14 and wider
rough,KD.
thanks for any insight or possible site that may have the ruling listed.

Most AYC is graded by WWPA rules. They have rules listed for boards.
I cannot find nor have a heard of "A and Better" grade (C is the highest I've seen) and then if there were, why would you need the word "clear" added? I wonder if this is a homemade grade. I would think that "clear" means free of all the defects you mentioned.
AYC is a small tree that often dies at 75 years, so getting 14" and wider lumber is somewhat rare.
All in all, some things do not seem to add up in what you wrote.

By AYC do you mean Alaskan Yellow Cedar?
"It grows in a band from Southern Alaska to Southern Oregon. It is one of the slowest growing trees in North America and includes trees that are 700-1200 years old. 50-60 annual rings per inch are not uncommon. This rare and exceptionally beautiful wood species seeks out high and adventurous sites and often grows to the tree line. It is a medium sized tree, with a thin bark. It is slow growing with high disease and decay resistance, as well as oils that make it very aromatic."

Yes Alaskan Yellow Cedar . Cupressus nootkatensis.
Yeah, other vendors had said c&btr was the common select appearance grade. Most described it to be essentially clear material with a few pin knots.
A&BTR one guy said was clear to near clear vertical grain.
I just received a shipment and now trying to figure out what grade I received.
I did not expect box heart and so many knots. Most are small. Some are pin. Many are medium "quarter sized", several large.
The surface checks are trouble some, deep, and plenty. They need to be cut out and glued back together.
With how much checking there is in some of the pith areas I think I would have to cut out all pith. Would pith be included in C&btr? How many knots allowed for C&btr?
End Checking/splits reduce length??
Do I look at the whole as a lower grade and bulk tally or deduct for defect and scale as A&btr??.......
When scaling in the rough are there any special rulings for which face you pick for Alaskan Yellow cedar?
Typically rough is worst face scaled?
here's a few pics there were 17 boards.
I did take pics of both face.
If any one was up for it I would post them all and maybe the experts can grade it for me?
Here a sample Ill post more if anyone wants to see.
Thanks.

I labeled pin knots with a P
some knots were detached from the surrounding wood, some are checked so I marked the checkes on the knots.
Not that there is not plenty nice clear lumber once you cut out the defect.
