RE: Remove black mold5/1
What substance can we use to remove black mold on hardwood boards?
From best to worst overall.
1. A stiff brush
2. Trisodium phosphate (tsp)
3. Bleach (but not with #2 as you can generate phosgene gas when mixed together).
I should have added that mold is a surface event, as the mold fungi use dust, dirt and microorganisms in the air and on the surface for food. However, the conditions that favor mold growth also favor blue stain fungi growth. So, after removing mold, you may find that the wood has blue stain in it and this cannot be removed.
