Milling large (36"-40"dia) logs in Burien, WA4/16
I recently had two trees cut down on my property in Burien, WA. One is black walnut and the logs that we saved are 20"-24" dia, one has a slight curve in it. The other tree is a 36"-40" dia maple trunk.
I am having a hard time finding someone in the area that will mill the logs into slabs for me. I was wondering if anyone on here can mill them or knows who can mill these logs in the area. I've attached some pictures of the logs that I'd like to get milled.
It shouldn't be hard to get the walnut slabbed up on a band mill. The maple is another matter. You might check with Peterson and/or Lucas sawmills to see if they can recommend someone with a dedicated wide slabber.
Ben, did you know about the sawing and drying directory on this site?
This will give you a lot of sawyers, probably some you don't know about.
If you call any of them, I would ask them if they have anyone they might refer you to.
