W Red Cedar Allergy9/15
Folks, wr cedar is a known allergen and that's what I primarily work with in my shop, and we make a lot of dust!
Do any of you have this allergy, or know more about it?
I don't think I have it yet, but I'm wondering, would allergy shots help with this? Or would anyone know where I could go to get more Info about preventive treatments??
Prevention is easier than treatment. Really step up the quality of dust collection, and air filters.
Many, many wood species cause some sort of allergy in some people. WRC is also blamed for an increase in nasal cancer. Therefore, an extremely good dust system is important, especially fine dust.
A face mask for people without a beard, etc. can be used.
OSHA (federal and state) and insurance companies both have needed help. The county extension office may have a university contact.
Thanks for the Info guys :-)
