General 340 drill press chuck removal11/20
I want to remove the chuck on my General 340 drill press. Is the chuck threaded on to the tapered spindle? There are holes in the collar above the chuck that may be for a spanner? Any ideas? Thanks
Exactly what I am trying to find out as well The manual is very limited. Please let me know what you have learned. Thank you in advance.
Gary, no answer yet. I've put that project off for now, but would like to remove the chuck and see if I can remount and eliminate the small amount of run out.
Try WWW.vintagemachinery.org. They have manuals/parts diagrams for several vintages of General 340 drill presses. I have two of these presses, but I can't be of much help as mine have never been apart. I've attached a link below that should take you to the VM.org website and to a copy of a 340 manual.
