Sliding table saw parts swap.10/30
Looking for some info here,, I have an HPS 126 Powermatic silding tablesaw.. The crosscut outrigger fence does not articulate and just kind of, for lack of better terms,, not very accurate.. I would like to replace it with a Altendorf or a felder outrigger and crosscut fence.. Does anyone know if this is possible???
I had one of those and made it much better by bolting one sliding unit on each side of the saw and then bolting them together using the fence. I removed the articulating arm and only used the slider parts. Sure an Altendorf is better but this did work and worked well. It was a dedicated saw at that point, no rip fence. I let mine go when I bought a panel saw and have been sorry ever since.
I cant imagine retrofitting a euro slide to your saw would be easy or cost effective. There is a lot of geometry in the elevation of the mount, the projection of the wing of the slider over to the blade, C.I. table overhang and access, and so on. Not sure of your location but I have a 9' slider that is apart in the shop and would be willing to part out.
All that said, Id think by the time you were done youd be better off snatching a used SCM off the machinery exchange. At that point you'd likely have dual controls, all the flip stops and so on you need and a turn key solution.
Thanks guys,,,, totally right...
