Research potential jobs and put together bid packages. Analyze, compare, and interpret detailed but, sometimes, not clearly defined information to develop scope and pricing.
Essential Functions
Study architectural drawings to determine the scope of the project using knowledge of the architectural millwork industry to set pricing.
Identify and attempt to resolve potential scope gaps and material questions prior to quoting.
Develop accurate material takeoffs and labor hours for millwork items.
Review large estimates with Senior Estimator or VP of Estimating prior to submission.
Watch deadlines to ensure bids are turned in on time.
Work closely with customers to maintain strong business relationships.
Basic knowledge of Project Management responsibilities will be required: ordering millwork materials, creating work orders, scheduling installations, and maintaining accurate billing information.
Required Skills/Abilities
Thorough knowledge of construction materials, costs, and procedures a plus
Ability to work under strict deadlines
Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, Teams, and Bluebeam
Strong mathematical skills
Ability to read architectural drawings
Detail oriented
Must be a self-motivator and can work independently
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Customer service focused attitude
Ability to visualize alternate solutions to complex millwork details.
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree in related field preferred
Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school a plus
Minimum two years of experience with architectural millwork and commercial construction
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional Certification a plus
Physical Requirements
Regularly require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
