What we are looking for:
The Powder Coating Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the powder coating department to ensure efficient, high-quality, and on-time production. This role manages personnel, equipment, materials, and processes within a fast-paced, high-volume, conveyorized powder coating operation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage and maintain the daily production schedule to meet customer and internal demand
Review, order, and manage powder paint for upcoming custom color jobs
Manage inventory of OPTO standard stock powder colors
Schedule and oversee multiple daily color changeovers
Oversee all powder coating operations, including washing, powder application, and curing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to washers, powder application systems, and curing ovens
Ensure the powder coating department operates efficiently by managing personnel, equipment, and supplies
Schedule, manage, and track all preventative maintenance activities
Review part quality with supervisors and hourly employees to ensure specifications and standards are met
Collaborate on packaging methods to protect powder-coated parts from damage (e.g., scratches) during transport to the next process
Maintain open communication with upstream and downstream departments to ensure smooth workflow and production continuity
Essentials Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a conveyorized powder coating system (not batch coating)
Experience operating high-throughput systems capable of processing approximately 5,000 parts per day
Strong knowledge of powder coating equipment and processes
Proven experience troubleshooting washers, powder application systems, and curing equipment
Nordson powder application equipment experience preferred
Prior leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong organizational and scheduling skills
Inventory management and purchasing experience
Ability to lead and communicate effectively with supervisors and hourly employees
Quality-focused with strong attention to detail
Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments

Fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
Hands-on role with regular interaction on the production floor
