Description
The Microvellum Engineer is responsible for translating architectural drawings, design intent, and project specifications into accurate, production-ready shop drawings and CNC-ready data using Microvellum.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are engineered efficiently, manufactured accurately, and installed successfully. The ideal candidate understands both design and production workflows and can bridge the gap between the office, shop, and field.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Shop Drawings
Produce detailed shop drawings from architectural plans and project specifications
Interpret design intent and resolve constructability issues
Ensure drawings meet company standards, field conditions, and client expectations
Coordinate with Project Managers for submittal packages
Microvellum Programming
Create and modify Microvellum assemblies, libraries, and standards
Generate cut lists, material reports, and CNC data
Optimize designs for efficient production and material usage
Maintain and improve company-wide Microvellum standards
Production Coordination
Work closely with production team to ensure drawings are buildable and efficient
Assist in troubleshooting fabrication issues
Support implementation of new products, materials, and hardware
Project Coordination
Collaborate with Project Managers and Coordinators on:
Submittals and revisions
RFIs and field adjustments
Incorporate redlines and approvals into final production drawings
Quality Control
Verify accuracy of dimensions, materials, and hardware selections
Ensure consistency between:
Shop drawings
CNC output
Field installation requirements
Qualifications
Required:
2+ years of experience in millwork engineering, drafting, or cabinet design
Proficiency in Microvellum
Strong understanding of millwork construction methods and materials
Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
Preferred:
Experience with CNC manufacturing processes
Knowledge of:
AWI standards
Veneers, laminates, hardwoods, and hardware systems
Familiarity with AutoCAD
Experience in commercial millwork

Compensation & Benefits (Typical Range)
Salary: $65,000 – $95,000+ (based on experience)
