Residential Millwork Project Lead — High-End Residential

About MPG
Markov Prestige Group is a North Miami custom architectural millwork and fabrication company serving high-end residential, hospitality, luxury condominium, and commercial clients. We run an office and showroom, two millwork shops, in-house drafting, CNC production, finishing, metal fabrication, and installation. We're expanding our residential division and looking for one person to own residential projects end to end.
The Role
You'll be the single point of ownership for each assigned residential project — from the first client conversation to final closeout. That means understanding what the client actually needs (often before they can say it), knowing what MPG can realistically build, proposing smart solutions, and then carrying the project through drawings, procurement, fabrication, installation, and punch list.
This is not a drafting- or rendering-only job — our drafting team produces the production drawings and renderings under your direction. Your value is the judgment: reading the client, shaping the solution, and keeping the project moving without constant involvement from ownership.
You'll report to Andrew Markov, President, who sets final pricing and contract terms. You'll run the day-to-day.
What You'll Own
- **Client & design direction** — Lead client and designer meetings; understand needs, taste, budget; propose buildable millwork solutions for kitchens, closets, vanities, bars, offices, wall systems, and ceilings; produce concept sketches and material selections; direct drafting on plans, elevations, and renderings.
- **Field measurement** — Visit sites across South Florida; take accurate measurements; verify dimensions and mechanical/electrical/plumbing conditions; flag discrepancies before fabrication.
- **Materials & hardware** — Specify wood, veneer, laminate, glass, stone, metal, finishes, and functional/decorative hardware; understand veneer matching, lead times, and cost; research unfamiliar products.
- **Project management** — Own schedules for 3–5 active projects; set deadlines for drafting, selections, approvals, and installation; track open decisions and risks; catch delays early.
- **Procurement & vendor coordination** — Specify materials, hardware, quantities, and dates; request quotes; track orders, shortages, and returns; flag long-lead and imported items.
- **Production & installation** — Lead handoff meetings; communicate design intent to shop and install teams; confirm site readiness; attend installations when needed; manage punch lists and closeout.
- **Change control** — Recognize when a request changes approved scope; document cost/schedule impact; get pricing approved before committing; prevent unauthorized free work or concessions.
Technology & AI
Practical use of AI is part of this role — meeting notes, client follow-up, material research, revision tracking, status reporting, punch lists. AI supports but doesn't replace your judgment: you stay personally responsible for verifying dimensions, specs, lead times, quantities, and approvals. No programming needed — just curiosity and discipline.
Required
- 4+ years in high-end residential millwork, custom cabinetry, kitchens, closets, or interior architecture
- Projects you've owned through fabrication and installation
- 2+ years client-facing design or coordination
- Strong grasp of what's buildable in a millwork shop
- Strong design taste and the judgment to guide a client
- Direct field-measurement experience
- Solid knowledge of residential materials, finishes, and hardware
- Able to sketch concepts and direct drafting/rendering (not produce all of it yourself)
- Able to run several projects at once
- Strong English, organization, and follow-through
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship)
*Degree preferred but not required with strong relevant experience and a solid portfolio.*
Nice to Have
6+ years experience · work at a custom millwork/cabinet manufacturer · South Florida luxury-residential or condo experience · European/premium hardware systems · imported materials, aluminum-frame systems, integrated lighting · high-rise delivery/install · Spanish fluency · AI-assisted workflows.
Software
Comfortable directing work in 2D cabinetry/drafting and 3D modeling platforms, plus PDF markup (Bluebeam), spreadsheets, and cloud file management. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, 2020 Design, Enscape, or similar a plus. You don't need every platform — comparable systems are fine if you can transition to ours in 60–90 days.
Who We're Seeking
Someone with refined but practical taste who knows millwork must be beautiful *and* buildable. You read what clients need, take ownership without waiting for direction, document decisions, anticipate problems, and communicate early. You stay calm with demanding clients, respect shop and install expertise, and carry projects through the unglamorous phases — procurement, fabrication, installation, closeout — not just the concept. This isn't for someone who loses interest once fabrication begins.
Work Arrangement
Local, full-time, on-site. First 60–90 days primarily at our North Miami office, showroom, shops, and job sites. Occasional remote may be permitted after onboarding when projects allow — not a remote or fixed-hybrid role. Weekday availability with flexibility for meetings, measurements, and installations; local travel across South Florida (occasionally up to ~100 miles).
Compensation
- $75,000–$95,000 base depending on experience
- ~15% performance bonus
