Description
Arete Design and Build is a custom cabinet and architectural millwork shop in Dallas, TX. We produce bespoke cabinetry, custom millwork, and high-end architectural details for discerning homeowners, interior designers, and general contractors across the DFW market.

We are growing fast. Our CNC just arrived. We have the clients, we have the work, and we have the standard. What we need now is the right person to own the machine and run Mozaik at a level that elevates everything we produce.

We are not looking for someone to learn on the job. We are looking for an expert who walks in on day one, assesses what we have, builds the workflow, and starts producing. If that describes you, keep reading.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN
• Mozaik workflow: cabinet, door and drawer programming, parts lists, cut optimization, and machine output
• CNC programming and setup: toolpaths, nesting, tooling selection, speeds and feeds for solid wood, plywood, MDF, and specialty sheet goods
• Machine operation: daily pre-shift checks, calibration, dust collection, tooling inspection, and safe operation
• Part quality control: every piece inspected for dimensional accuracy and edge quality before it goes to the bench
• Tooling management: track wear cycles, flag replacement proactively — never mid-run
• System building: establish our cut file library, tooling documentation, feed/speed settings, and preventive maintenance schedule from scratch
• Continuous improvement: you find the better nest, the faster toolpath, the tighter tolerance — and you implement it
• Knowledge transfer: train shop support staff on safe machine proximity and basic material handling over time
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Mozaik — you must know this software deeply. Not familiar. Not learning. Expert. You can build a full cabinet job from scratch, program doors and drawers, generate accurate parts lists, and push optimized cut files to the machine without hand-holding.
• CNC routing — 3+ years minimum in a cabinet or millwork environment. You understand the machine mechanically, not just operationally. You troubleshoot. You do not wait for things to fail.
• Wood knowledge — you understand grain direction, sheet good behavior, solid wood movement, and how different materials respond to different tooling and parameters.
• Precision — your parts are accurate. You verify dimensions. You run test cuts. You do not release a part that is not right.
• Self-direction — you can assess a new shop, understand what needs to be built, and build it without someone managing every step.
• Communication — you work closely with the Lead Carpenter and Production Coordinator. You flag issues early and clearly.
STRONG PLUS
• 5-axis CNC experience
• Point-to-point (PTP) machine experience
• Cabinet Vision or other cabinet design software as secondary platform
• Experience building Mozaik libraries and tooling databases from scratch
• Solid wood and custom millwork experience beyond standard box construction
• Finish knowledge — understanding of how parts will be finished informs how you cut them
WHAT WE OFFER
• Competitive pay - demonstrated expertise — we pay for real skill
• Full-time, in-house position — stable, not project-to-project
• A shop culture built on craft, precision, and mutual respect
• Holiday pay after 90 days: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas
• Real career path as Arete scales — the person who builds this capability leads it as we grow
OUR STANDARD
We run Arete by a simple principle: The Art of Enough. We do not over-engineer, over-complicate, or over-promise. We produce work that is exactly what it needs to be — and nothing less. Every joint, every cut, every part that comes off that machine is a reflection of that standard.

If you have spent your career being frustrated by shops that do not care about quality the way you do — you will feel at home here.

How to Apply
Send the following to us directly — no recruiters, no agencies:

• Your resume or work history
• A brief description of your Mozaik experience: what you built, what machines you ran, what shop you came from
• Any photos or portfolio of work produced from your CNC programs (phone photos of finished cabinets, millwork, or parts are welcome)
