Description
Bergan Architectural Woodworking is seeking an experienced Millwork Drafter / Engineer to own our engineering process, from the first review of architectural drawings through programs ready for the CNC. You will be the link between the design intent on the architect's drawings and what our shop actually builds.
Must be proficient with
• Cabinetvision, including working within construction standards and material libraries
• AutoCAD
• AlphaCAM
• Nested CNC production
• Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams
A plus
• Innergy, or a similar ERP or project tracking system
• AWI Architectural Woodwork Standards (AWS)
• Shop floor or field installation experience
Responsibilities
• SHOP DRAWINGS: Create shop drawings from construction documents, and review drawings from outside drafting partners for buildability before they go to the architect
• SUBMITTALS: Manage drawing revisions through architectural review until final approval
• RFIs: Work with the Project Manager to create Requests for Information (RFIs) when questions arise
• ENGINEERING: Translate approved drawings into Cabinetvision using Bergan's construction methods and standards
• CNC PROGRAMMING: Generate and send programs through Cabinetvision and AlphaCAM, and work with the CNC operator to resolve issues and improve nesting yield
• FIELD DIMENSIONS: Incorporate field measurements and agreed hold dimensions into final drawings before release to production
• LIST OF MATERIALS: Provide a final list of materials and hardware to the Project Manager for purchasing
• CUTSHEETS: Create cutsheets and shop packets for production
• CHANGE ORDERS: Review drawing changes with Estimating so revisions are priced correctly
• SHIP LISTS: Create ship lists for items being delivered to the jobsite
• INNERGY: Keep drawing status, materials, and project information current in Innergy
• PROCESS: Help document our construction standards and drafting procedures so knowledge is shared across the team
Qualifications
• 3 or more years of drafting and engineering experience in a commercial architectural millwork shop
• Able to read architectural drawings and specifications and spot conflicts early
• Solid understanding of commercial millwork construction: casework, wall paneling, reception desks, solid surface, plastic laminate, and veneer
