Description
Millwork CAD experience is required. You must have personally engineered cabinetry or architectural millwork that was actually built. Please include CAD models or shop drawings from that work. Applications without millwork CAD experience will not be considered, regardless of Claude Code, Codex, or general software development skills.
Remote. Hourly contract with potential to grow into full-time work.
Austin Custom CNC is looking for an experienced millwork engineer who is highly proficient with Claude Code or Codex and wants to use AI throughout the design-to-production process.
You must be proficient in at least one of Mozaik, SketchUp, or Onshape. You do not need all three.
We want someone who understands how a model becomes something a shop can manufacture: construction details, material thicknesses, joinery, hardware clearances, tolerances, and CNC constraints. You should be comfortable producing shop drawings and resolving the details that affect fabrication and installation.
You should also already use Claude Code or Codex to build things. That means working with code and files, debugging problems, and checking the results. We’re looking for someone who actively experiments with these tools and can show what they’ve built or automated.
The work would combine millwork engineering with improving the tools used to do it. Potential projects include reusable parametric components, automating repetitive CAD work, generating production information, and improving the handoff from customer requirements to drawings and CNC preparation. You’ll help identify useful improvements and work with our shop team to check them against real production needs.
We’re exploring an initial hourly contract. Scope and schedule are open, with the possibility of growing into a full-time role as the work develops. Remote work is welcome.
To apply, please share:
- One or two examples of millwork you personally engineered, including drawings or models and what was actually built.
- A short screen recording showing you using Claude Code or Codex on a real task. Walk through what you built or automated and how you checked the result. Redacted examples are fine.
- Which CAD software you know best, your role in the examples, and your time zone.
