Description
Selling my Casadei Model R/63 H3 (2001) industrial planer. This is a heavy‑duty, Italian‑built commercial machine originally used in a cabinet shop in Portland, Oregon. It was fully operational when removed from service. I transported it to my home workshop in Marshfield, MO and powered it using a rotary phase converter.
⭐ Why This Machine Is Valuable
True commercial‑grade 24 planer
Built by Casadei in Italy (now SCM Group)
Modern equivalents cost $18,000$20,000+
Used dealer listings for this model often run $7,000$8,000
Auction prices for older units are around $2,500, but those are usually untested and rough
This is a great opportunity for a cabinet shop, furniture maker, or serious woodworker who wants a high‑end machine at a fraction of new cost especially if you plan to upgrade to a modern helical cutterhead.
Condition & Known Details
Motor runs strong on 3‑phase (via my rotary phase converter)
I can power it up for inspection
Feed rollers stopped working after chips built up inside the milling chamber likely a tripped sensor or relay
I did not troubleshoot further; selling as a light restoration project
Original spiral knife system (long single-piece knives bent to match the spiral groove)
Replacement spiral knives are still available in the USA approx. $650
Several companies now offer helical carbide cutterhead upgrades for $2,800$3,000
Sound‑dampening foam inside the top access panel has deteriorated and should be replaced (simple fix)
Original knives have some nicks, so the finish shows small high spots
Mechanically, this is a solid machine. With a little attention, it can be fully functional again.
Weight & Transport
Factory weight is listed at ~900 kg, which is approximately 1,984 lbs.
Loading Notes
I do not have a forklift
I do have a pallet jack and can move it to the shop door on a concrete slab
Plenty of room for a forklift or tractor with loader
A heavy‑duty trailer with a strong ramp could also work
Bring help its very heavy
Location: Marshfield, MO (near Phoenix Road & Spring Valley Loop)
Price
$4,500 or best reasonable offer

Given the machines capability, upgrade potential, and current market value, this is a strong buy for anyone needing a wide industrial planer.
