Gun Cabinet

Listing #157 Listed on: 11/26/2004 Name: Joel Steenhoek

Company Name: Custom WoodworksThis is a gun cabinet that I built resently. It holds 10 guns, has holgen lights, doors and drawers lock, and has raised panel finished ends. I am currently trying to sell it. I have $2250 on it now. Is this too much?

Great design and craftsmanship, next time spend a bit more on glass, the addition of raised panel glass would set off the doors and the asking price.

Joel, The price depends on where you live. I live in the Atlanta area and $1500 for that would be a stretch. Red oak, which it appears to be, isn't exactly exotic wood. I'd guess you have no more than about $150 in materials, including the glass and hardware. But again, it depends on where you live and what the market will bear.

i dont know where the wood you buy comes from but in ohio youd have that in 3/4 ply. if the design is yours and its built well then market as if! we wouldnt waste our time for less that 2,000 on a case like that and we have build them in upwards of $6 and $7 grand. i posted a picture of a white oak island in the project gallery a while back and got 6,200 for it. so its all how you market your products and the public demand for it!! happy building ....MAX

I live in Tampa,Fl and I was asked to make a cab very similar and I didn't have the time to do it so I had a couple of frinds bid the cab for me and including my bid of $2600 the others were $2300 and $2800.
