The credenza and 3 of the floating shelves. Note the slots in the base for heat. The heat register is under the cabinet, ducted these slots.

The floating shelves are hollow inside, made of 1/4" ply with solid forward edge. Halogen puck lights are recessed into the bottoms.

Bookcases and showing the custom box cornice.

The veneer work on the drawer fronts took longer to do than the desktop....and I threw it in as a freebie! Live and learn.

How did you attach the floating shelves to the wall?

2" blocks of pine are attached to the wall first and the shelves slip over them and are screwed and/or glued on. The shelves are are hollow inside made of 1/4" oak ply with solid oak edges, built like shallow boxes with open backs. Not for lots of weight but making them thicker with thicker blocks helps. The short ones are very strong and the wings add strength to this design. I make a lot of larger floating shelves with stone tops for hallways, etc.
