Mahogany Office/Library

Listing #1638 Listed on: 12/19/2008 Name: Rob

I built this project on-site, not in a shop. With the exception of a few moldings, I fabricated it all myself including the curves.

I was also finished on-site by painters, so it has a different look than spray booth finishes.

The niche behind the desk has a curved paneled ceiling and the back wall meets the paneled sides of the cabinets in another curve.

This project also included 2 walls of paneled mahogany wainscoting that are not pictured

Great. How many hours total on your end.?
Posted By:Rob
Harry,
I would say 100-150 man hours is an accurate estimate. Than includes some hours for an apprentice/'kid' helping me out.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but I supervise a crew for a trim subcontractor and I don't track billing that directly.

This was one room in a mansion that took me 11 months to trim, so it blends together.

Really nice work. For a job like that I prefer onsite finishing. Its so hard and complicated to do a prefinish for a custom job like that; especially with all the trim. Is that all sapele and sapele pomele veneer?
Posted By:Rob
Yes. It is solid mahogany face frame with sapele pomele veneer for flat panels.

Exceptional project. I see dye stain as well as wipe stain finishing and exceptional craftsmanship old world style. Keep up the high standards!
