You said historic house? Looks modern to me. Glass block windows, flat top stove, stainless steel dishwasher.

Another question, how will these look in a year? I could see maybe in an area with little to no use.

I got to ask if those boards are all solid wood. Are they 4/4 wood?
If so the boards are way to wide and are going to split like crazy.
Are they a Veneer? If they are about an 1/8 inch thick solid attack to sum other core like practical board then you should be fine. They still mite crack a little?
They look beautiful now . but if they are solid they will not in a year.

I think they look nice. I'm sure the client is aware they will not wear like granite.

I don't understand the comments about cracking and I don't agree. If it is reclaimed heart pine, it should be pretty well along the way to where ever it wants to go and that wood has such a high sap content, it will move pretty well without coming apart.
If I am wrong, please enlighten me.

I hear everyone saying that solid wood will always crack. They use to make everything out of solid wood and lots of it still stands strong for hundreds of years. I'm a solid you person and will continue to use the real thing.
