A Small Tiger Maple lap Desk I made to sell at Silent auction for our local woodworkers guild scholarship fund.

Dyed with van dyke brown and then 6 coats of Danish Oil and two coats of wax. First time using tiger maple. Looks great, hard to work with.

Looked at your other projects too. You do great work.

this is really nice. I think the proportions are great, and the stain on the wood gives it a great color and shows the figure well. My one criticism is that I think people tend to go overboard on figured wood, and it can give you a little bit of a headache. I would tone it down and just use it for highlights. But that's just my taste.

Well I Like it, Whitney! I think figured woods are much more attractive than mixed woods. But that's just MY taste. You are right that it is easy to go overdoard with figured wood. But I don't feel that was done here at all.
Andrew, nice proportion, beautiful craftsmanship, excellent finish.
