Very nice Wes. I'm just curious....why didn't you run it all the way to the ceiling?

I'm just guessing, but I'm gonna say because he couldn't have stood it up. The crown was attached at the shop, so he didn't have headroom to stand it up if it went to the ceiling. If the crown had been installed on-site, he might have been able to go to the ceiling, but I'd have to do the math.

Byron is correct. The customer wanted it freestanding (I left some extra material 1/4" thick on the case sides for scribing if they should ever wish to fasten it to the wall in the future). I left it tilting slightly back towards the wall when I delivered it (there are cabinet levelers across the front edge). I was a little worried about it tipping over, but it ended up extremely stable.

The entertainment center stops just shy of the existing crown molding on the walls.

Looks awesome Wes. What's the height between the floor and where the TV sits? I've been trying to research that height for a project and eveything I read says something different. I've read that your head should be at the center of the screen, which in my case that would mean the TV would site about 26" above the floor. Gotta love Cherry!

Geoff, I understand the same as you, that the center of the screen should be at eye level of the viewer. In most cases, that would be in a seated position :) For my own home (not this entertainment center pictured), what I did was sit in each chair that faces the TV and measured from the ground to eye level, then averaged the values. For me, that puts the center of the screen 43" off the floor (I'm only about 5'10"). I don't have the drawings in front of me, but I believe the TV pictured sits 20" or 22" off the ground.
