Very nice shape. Big tops are hard to pull off but you made it work.

Beautiful work!

Nice balance and lines.
How many hours do you have into it?
Did you pad or spray the finish?
Is this your design?

I have seen other pieces by this individual and am in awe of his talent. This is another beautiful example.

Interesting piece. Nice design, nice wood, carving, finish, execution. Excellent work!

Thanks Fred:
I have approx. 120 hours. I filled the grain using shellac, about 60 coats on the top.
This is my design.

Do you have any pics before carving? I'm starting a project myself. It's not near as complex as what you have done. How many years have you been carving?
Posted By:Brian Lorentzen
This is my first piece Don. I took a 18th century carving class about four years ago. Mark Laub was the instructor. I never thought I could carve until I took that class. It took me three years to come up with something to do. I looked at many old pieces but didn't like what I seen or was to afraid to tackle something complex.

Very nice table indeed.

However, your fourth photograph "Base before finishing" is absolutely, museum-quality stellar.

It (the photograph) has all the right elements: lines, color, balance, but most of all "mystique". When I look at this photograph, it makes me pause and I say to myself "I don't exactly know what I'm looking at, but whatever it is, it is absolutely gorgeous".

Convert this photograph a full page ad in a high-tone, designer magazine, caption it just as you did with "Base before finishing", and watch the orders ($$) roll in!

I'm sorry, it's the sixth photograph, not the fourth.

Wow! I love the shape. It flows so well. The curves are so balanced. A work of art, very nice.
