I like the simplicity in design, the angles, the thickness. I haven't used ash before, I'm assuming it doesn't move much and that's why you chose it for the core. How thick were the walnut skins you laid up?

the skins were resawn at 1/4 inch out of 12/4 slabs of figured claro.

sorry for the terrible resolution on these resized photos. they don't at all do justice to the project's details. the original files are over 1.8 megs so 250k is a real sacrifice.

This is a beautiful table. The finish has a warm feeling to it. I was wondering if you had a long side and top picture of this?

if the walnut was already three inch slabs why didn't you just saw it to 6/4 or 8/4 and make it solid instead of gluing it to the ash?

Very nice looking table! If it's possible, please write back with the type of finish you used, and how you applied it. I have many projects that are currently air drying, and I'm looking for good brand names of finishes to use. Thanks a lot.
P.S. Have you ever used honeylocust for your projects? It's fairly common here in Iowa and Illinois, and it's a beautiful, unique wood.
