Plasma TV Lift Cabinet

Listing #331 Listed on: 04/11/2006 Name: Chris Hostetler

Company Name: Hostetler Custom CabinetryThis cabinet is made of mahogany. The drawers on the front are actually doors to access the 42" Plasma TV. The TV lifts out of the cabinet and faces the bed with the press of a button. How's that for a 21 year old?

WOW!!!! Man that is amazing - and great finish work!

That's awesome, where did you get the lift kit from? Do you run your own wood shop? Have a website url? You do some great work, always loved those lifts, seems like not just celebrities are putting those in their homes these days. How much would you charge for something like that?

The lift is from Lift-Tech. It runs about $3000. I work at Hostetler Custom Cabinetry for my dad. Currently I am a Junior at Clemson University in South Carolina getting my management degree. I have worked for him for about 12 years during the summers and on breaks. We do not have a website (yet). We charged about $6,000 for this cabinet.

That's a nice piece!! Finish looks supperb too. Love the finished panels and extra detail even on the box that surrounds the TV. What was the finishing schedule? Was the 6 grand including the lift? very nice.

This piece probably took 60 hours from start to finish. The finish is Old Masters stain (7 part red mahogany/1 part dark mahogany ??) with three coats of lacquer. $6,000 included the lift. Another employee built the TV box and finished up what I did not get to before i went back to school for the fall, so honor where honor is due! I am very fortunate to have a very talented father and fellow employees who have taught me alot over the years!

It was great to see this piece beacause I have been thinking about making one of these for myself for quite some time. Knowing the lift cost $3000. is going to return that project to the back burner once again. As a design feature, I would have installed a mirror on the opposite side so that when in the up position it looks like a normal dresser with mirror. A very, very nice job indeed. Kim

Cabinet looks great. I found the lift hardware at rockler for 1500

Very nice work Chris! This piece looks awsome! Your father has taught you well. It helps to have the great woodworking equipment in your shop also. But that doesn't diminish the great craftsmanship you put in this piece. If I remember correctly you guys use high quality custom made lifts, not the standard lifts available from Rockler, etc. Keep up the great work this summer.
