Queen Ann Chairs and Finished Table

Delivered today and she's happy. Bit of a change doing this traditional style but quite enjoyed the experience. Polished to gloss after staining. Upholstered the seats myself Saturday morning. I guess that and the self polishing saved over a thousand. I think she got a very fair price at $4000 with my hourly at $45.

What finish did you use on them?

Absolutely beautiful work. This project took only about 75 hours or so to build?

Nice work! That is the second table I have seen on here recently with shortcut legs though. It is very easy to correctly shape a snake foot leg. A bandsaw, spokeshave, and sandpaper is all you really need. Takes only a few hours and looks a million times better IMO...

Just an acid-cat clear lacquer. Took a week and a bit on five chairs and just under a week on the table. Everything sprayed by the last day of the two week. Steaming! Did some of those legs Joel back in my apprentice days. I did at least taper them! Cheers.

I guess the point is Joel that is your opinion. It is very easy to correctly shape a snake foot leg.

It has just clicked after 30 years in the trade that 'serpentine' refers to the shape of a snake...and Joel has helped me realize it!
