As a turner I think the base might have been done better - it would go with the top better if not laid up in slabs.
Nice looking piece. The walnut I see is always very dark. Was it air dried lumber?

Yes I think it may have looked better if I would have found a solid piece, and it would have been easier since to glue up 120 bf of wood was a chore.
Yes the wood was kiln dried.
That's why God invented biscuit joiners! Beautiful piece!
