Several months ago, I posted on the cabinet making forum, asking for advise about springs/pistons etc., and was helped by your responses. This is the finished bed, installed. Solid cherry, and I decided to use the spring system. It is located in a formal home office, so I was asked to disguise it! thank-you

Hi Richard, this is nicest Murphy bed I've ever seen, beautifully done. Murphy would be proud!

Thank-you Ken!

Many years of night shift on a Murphy ,sadly nothing like the fine piece above ! Are your springs the torque type ? Two bent ends , offset? They do explode ,with daily use. I would recommend purchasing a spare while available . Two or three broke over 15 years or so . Have a good one!

Hey Richard WoW ,thats a great looking bed,I just did a murphy, but nothing as nice as yours. I was wondering how many hrs...guessing would you say to design/figure out on the front? and if you don't mine sharing?? cost?? Thanks Rick.

Rick, thank-you for the compliments. I did a 1/4 scale drawing showing a front view and a top view to show the customer. It took about 8 weeks to make. A second would take far less time. Having never seen a murphy before, I watched lots of youtubes, and spent an afternoon with a murphy bed company. The hardest thing to figure out was how to clear the bun feet when opening the bed. Also maintaining tolerances during construction needed constant attention. Please accept my apology for not disclosing the price.

Very nice, would never guess what it was when closed. What hardware did you use?

Thanks Larry, I purchased the hardware directly from a commercial murphy bed distributer in the area. It is a spring type. Murphybed.com is a good resource for hardware and information. Rich
