OK, here is the working side of the kitchen. The finish is Lenmar pre cat laquer, clear satin over natural wood-no stain. Bubinga is a heavy wood with a open grain. It is a very nice wood to work with. I didn't even have to soften the veneer before I taped and glued it. I did the design on this project and would be more than happy to design and build something like this for anyone interested. Thanks to everyone taking the time to look at my work.

Vacuum press pressing side pannels

Close up of grain

The doors, sides and top are bubinga veneer .I used a vacuum press I built to laminate all the veneer to the substrate.

Very nice job Scott!

What did you use as a finish on it? I really like the red tones in the wood, and the veneer and solid wood compliment each other very well.

Again, great job, thanks for sharing!

I love it. When can you build one for my wife?

Is that your design work as well? The whole piece is well thought out. Is that wood difficult to work?

Keep up the "A" class work, Adam

Well done! I like the way you divided up the door panels. Many would have made them 4 equal panels.

Sure looks nice. I like the way you hid the fridge and stove, and I can't even see the range hood.

This kitchen was built for someone local.Only two miles from my shop in Keymar, MD. Not the normal DC cliant. We used Maytag appliances delivered and installed by the local Maytag Man.For most of the jobs in DC we use Wolf ovens/microwaves and Sub Zero frig.

As for price, something like this goes for about $1000 per linial foot not including counter tops or appliances. Thanks for looking!

Wonderful Work

Very nice. What source did you use for your veneer?

Absolutely gorgeous, Scott. Especially like the trim details. Is the trim your millwork, or purchased? The "breakfront" wall (1st picture) looks to have no toeboard? And how are the interiors finished - bubinga, or more like the open space in the top center? Thanks for sharing!

I did make all the Trim. The toe kick is set bact so it is not seen. The insides are finished like the exterior. The hinges are Mepla Euro and the slides are KV.
