Live edge walnut tables

Listing #652 Listed on: 04/14/2007 Company Name: Woodworks
Name: Mike Morrison

I just installed these for clients who live in a beautiful timber frame home overlooking the water just outside Sydney, Nova Scotia. Both tables were cut from one slab of walnut that was 40" at its widest point.

Real nice. I really like the table that wraps the post. Is that a box beam or a full post? Did you do anything to the table to account for expansion of the post? Just wondering. Very nice work.

Hi. Thanks for your comments. That is a full 8x8 pine post. The house is a beautifully built timber frame. I'm hoping that the table will float enough on the brackets to address the wood movement across the grain. As for the post itself... my fingers are crossed!

beautiful...my sister is having a huge walnut tree in her back yard dropped ( I know criminal) but the wood is mine so it is encouraging to see what it could be...

Excellent. Masterful blend from the "live edge" to the finished ends. You hardly notice it. I'm always interested in how people achieve beautiful and natural looking finishes on Walnut. What did you do for finishing.

Thanks for the comments. The finish on this piece is tung oil and wax.
