I have run into this twice in the last three years. On some very big jobs either the owner or the GC will be self insured and you do not need to supply Workmens Comp and General liability insurance certificates. I know they expect you to deduct the cost of insurance from your bid. Has anyone else run into this lately?

You still need to pay your employee's workman's comp and carry your own liability, right? How can you not include that in your bid? That's one hell of a discount on your work!

I think we should just do this for free. Or, pay the general a few hundred grand per project.
Does anyone know a cabinetmaker that is anything less than rich? I don't know about you guys, but between hopping in the G5 to play golf with the sultan of Brunei, and swimming in my money bin, I'm having trouble finding the time to slave away in the shop much more than 70 hours a week.

I'd make a line item: "insurance discount, -$25,000.00"
And another line item: "find someone else to play games with, +$25,001.00"

That's fricking ridiculous. Somebody conned his ass out of a bunch of money under the guise of saving money.

Working for that gc should be curbside only. Or, not all.

Those policies are for field work so the installation WC if you have audited premiums and report installers separate from Shop.

I doubt you will get any liability credit as your major exposure is in your shop.
It's pretty common OCIP.
