I have been discussing hiring a digital marketing agency. The one I found has had success in home services and even works with a custom cabinetry shop similar to mine.

Anyone have any experience with hiring out this service and if it is worth it? By the pricing I am getting if I can get one good job every three to four months off of it it would pay for itself.

We have no idea what you make, so it's difficult to say if digital marketing will reach the customers you want.

Sorry, you said custom cabinets. In my small shop I felt all marketing had to be directed at selling me rather than the product. Selling for me meant building confidence and a repport with the customers.

I am trying to get in front of more people searching for what I do so I can grow the business. For example, somebody who needs custom cabintery in my area might search on Google for "custom cabinet maker near me". I don't show up in the results for that and it makes sense to try to.

I work with a company that does the digital ads with Google for me as well as SEO for the website and a monthly email that goes out to ll customers to keep me in mind. I encourage people to sign up for email when they visit my website. It is a constant drip to the customer to keep me in mind.

Well said James. Like the Yellow Page ads of the past. The general public ignored all the words in your ad and just called me for simple repair or furniture restoration. Nothing I wanted to be bothered with, and nothing mentioned in my yellow page ad.

Remember the advertising cost should be a small percentage of the jobs you get

for example if you want to pay 10% of each job for advertising and advertising costs $500 per month the advertisement would have to bring in 500/.1 = $5000 worth of work to be worthwhile.

I do not know if this is a good investment. I do know that you can't do everything yourself. Is the investment significant? If not you can give it a try and see what happens. Worst case it does not bring in business and you learned something.

I decided to give it a six month contract and see what happens since I don't have the time or want to learn how to do this type of marketing. Thanks for the responses and things I should consider. I will let you know how it goes.

I'm curious what they are charging per month, and what specific services they are offering.

My wife has boutique digital Ad Agency for companies in the $10-$20 million dollars in revenue and that don't want an in house marketing department. What I have learned from her is that there is a lot of digital marketing scammers out there and they scam some pretty big companies. But if you get the right one and they hussle and are good your sales will increase 10%-20% in 12 months.

But to start, I'd ask them to show some of their success stories or results with other similar companies they've worked with and go from there. I used a digital marketer to do SEO and a PPC campaign for my business with success.

Things have gone really well. The agency has helped me get several big cabinetry jobs averaging about one per month and getting a lot of small jobs that we will probably have to turn down or outsource.

The cost is $1,700 a month but after about five months we were monthly getting $15,000+ cabintry jobs. Also helped me get connected with a couple of builders in my area who found me through Google. Price included new website, Google profile management, and CRM help.

My agency did SEO so the leads were really high quality. I had really poor results from trying PPC like that agency you promoted. If anyone is interested the guys I went with are called Tavallo. Very easy to work with..

Update: So far converting one big cabinetry job every 60 days since we got our first one also get a bunch of small stuff directly from homeowners. Also, made a new relationship with a builder because of them finding us on Google.
