Experience with BuilderTREND?3/14
Do any custom cabinetry shops have experience using BuilderTREND? Looking for some real world reviews.
Thanks in advance
Only experience is as a sub/vendor. Like any tool it can be very useful if used correctly and bad/dangerous if it is not. If you want to see chaos, enter the wrong information, late information, no information, etc all the while telling folks who are relying on that information that that is where you go to get the information you need. It is as good as the people using it...like most tools.
This is Paul Wurth - I am with Buildertrend. I know that a response from a 'sales guy' may not be what you are looking for, so I will keep it brief.
I have been w/ Buildertrend since the beginning and have seen many companies use BT very successfully. If you would like a quick online demo from our team, it would only take about 15 minutes.
Overall, Buildertrend is highly customizable. So we can tailor it to your needs as a cabinet company. Feel free to reach out anytime.
I am not familiar with BuilderTrend but have participated in many attempts at online project management. Usually these were at the behest of clients who worked in the tech sector and thought all things tech must be wonderful.
The theory is that in order to enhance transparency and consistency all communication would go through a single channel. If you had a question you could post it and anybody who had a horse in the race could be updated or make a contribution. Everybody was was essentially communicating with everybody on the same page.
The problem, however, was that it became incumbent on everybody to audit EVERY conversation. It's kind of like having to audit every single word on a roll of blueprints to see if somebody wrote something that would affect you legally or financially. The blueprint, at least, was a finite document that could be audited. The online discussion is something that goes on and on and on. You need to make sure nobody is sitting up in their pajamas at midnight with a new idea.
A single repository for information makes a lot of sense if you can control the inputs.
For example, if I make a contribution that affects a plumber is it my responsibility to notify him that his information has been updated or his responsibility to verify his knowledge is current? Who pays for the crash?
