Stainless steel half overlay Euro hinges3/31
Installed frameless melamine cabinets in a pool house several years ago using Mepla half overlay 110º hinges with the odd Mepla/Hettich toolless boring pattern. Customer would like a non corroding option to replace the existing hinges and plates. So I need stainless or galvanized toolless hinges to fit that odd boring pattern. Anybody make anything that is an easy replacement?
I believe this is going to be a challenge for you without re-making the doors or plugging the existing hinge cup holes. The Mepla pattern is quite unique. Not to mention that Sugatsune is the only company that offers a stainless steel European hinge (and definitely not in the pattern you are looking for)
You may try looking at the old Grass archives. As you may be aware, Mepla was purchased then merged into Grass. They do not have a stainless hinge but you may still be able to find replacements that will fit the hole pattern with the tool-free attachment…the same hinges that are there now.
Is this in an outdoor environment where stainless might be the best (only) solution? If not, the Salice Titanium plated hinge offers a corrosion resistance 3X that of the normal nickel plated hinges. This is not to say that it is corrosion-proof like stainless but it could be another solution if the dark color is acceptable to your customer.
Thank you Dennis! I suspected as much, and figured you would respond with another helpful answer. Yes, it is in a pool house where they store pool chemicals, thus why I am searching for stainless. Customer replaced hinges a year or so ago, and I can't believe how bad they look in such a short time.
