Sheet goods cut list optimizers10/5/19
Apart from those that are part of dedicated cabinet software packages (like Cabinet Vision, Mozaik...) or that come bundled with your CNC machines, what other stand alone cut list optimizers do you use or recommend?
For the last 2 years I've been using MaxCut, but some of it flaws have started to impact my workflow; every time I open a previously saved project it recalculates the part arrangement from the start and every time it's different than before, so that thing apparently has no memory. The other thing is that it does not remembers certain settings, like sheet trim paramaters, so it has to be input manually every time, even for previously saved projects.
I've been checking CutList Plus, looks like it could be worthy alternative, but the trial version does not allow me to import reasonably long list of parts to test how good it really works.
Does anybody uses CutList Plus or do you have any other to recommend?
Eventually, I suppose I'll end up with Mozaik in the near future, but not just yet.
Forgot to mention - I get my parts from Excel sheets. I have an Excel sheet for every type of cabinet I make, where I input dimensions of the cabinet and materials used and the sheet calculates the rest.
So, the new optimizer should be able to import at least one of the file types Excel is able to produce.
Cabinetparts pro, been using it for 8 years, does the job, recently went to Moziak as well, I should say I have Cabnetware (Now non supported) since 1996 and Cabinetvision, i have owned or used several others.
Iv'e been using Cutlist Plus for years. Totally happy with it. Simple, versatile, saves all the parameters just fine.
