Shaker Doors

When making shaker style doors how do you guys achieve the small radius on the inside front of your door frames. When making the doors it is to sharp and square to do nothing, is there a better way other then sanding the sharp corner off? Thanks

I just sand with 150. But you could use a 1/16" radius round over router bit. They have them with bearings and with brass posts. You'll still have to sand in the corners.

You could run a 60 deg. v cut inside the profile on a corner squaring pattern.

I used to run a block with sand paper to break the edges, now all my cutters have radius already.

I believe i will just sand for now and get me a new set of inserts with a small radius on the next set of cutters I get. There is not enough clearance to run a router bit. Thanks

Leo you don't have but 5/16 to about 3/8" maximum clearance to the panel will that work with this bit?

Could you file a 1/8" groove in one of those chisel plane blades and use it??

My panels are 5/16" below the stile. Not sure if the bit would work as is. If it was too long I'd just sand the brass "bearing" shorter so it would work.
I took the picture of it and put it in my photo editor. Looks like from the bottom of the bearing to the top of the round over is 21/64"

I think I will order me one like you say I can cut it off if I have to thanks Leo.

If it doesn't work out for the shaker doors you'll find other uses for it I'm sure. I have the 1/4" and 1/8" radius versions and use them a lot.

You could rout a 1/16" or 1/8" round over or chamfer on the stiles and rails before assembling the doors and just stop short on each end of the stile where the rail joins. Hit the corners with a sanding block after doors are glued up.
