Biesse 336 Rover Machine Data Issue
8/17/18
I have a 1997 Biesse 336 Rover. The hard drive crashed and I installed another from a nearly identical 336. My machine has 2 spindles with a saw. The backup machine only had the 2 spindles. Now when I press stop/reset/start the spindle reset button on the backboard flashes and needs to be reset even though it doesn’t need it. Any ideas on what to change in the machine data to alleviate this problem. I’ve contacted Biesse support but they didn’t have the answer. $200 to the person who solves this problem for me.

I am wondering if you talked to the right person at Biesse? There are two guys left that can help you with older generation Biesses'. You did not mention if your machine has an RT480 control or XNC control? The "cleanest" solution is to reinstall the original software ,PLC and machine data that came with your machine and reset the machine up as when new. The condition you have now is the PLC on the "new-used" hard drive is seeing inputs for hardware on your machine that do not align with the input registry in it's PLC, which was set up for a different configuration of options. This may not only effect the one different option you noted, but several more and you may not be able to disable all of this within the machine data depending on how the PLC was written. Hope this helps!

Mark, thank you for your response. To answer your questions, yes I spoke with Russ W. and Rick T. who are the most knowledgeable about this model of machines. I spoke with each of them at length for 30 to 45 minutes each. Neither could figure out the problem. I do not have the original software for reinstalation. It is an XNC controller, and I have been with the machine since day one. I feel it has something to do with the parts machine hard drive that I installed that is only configured for the 2 spindles (slots) it had vs. my machine that has 2 spindles and a saw unit that works in both the X and Y axis making the machine having 4 slots. Thank you again for your time Mark.

Chevy, thank you for your response. I think you are correct. Specifically, I believe it is 1.2.1.1 I will verify tomorrow morning when I go into the shop. Thanks again!!!

Chevy, the version that is currently running is 1.2.0.0 but I’m not sure if that is the same version as the original that crashed. For some reason the numbers 1.2.1.1 are sticking in my head but I’m not positive of anything.
