Upgrding Biesse from windows 7 to windows 10

I am looking at a new Biesse Rover K. It currently comes with windows 7 since that was the way it was ordered in to the factory.
I was told that any new units being ordered now will have windows 10 but its not an issue. Since windows 7 is going to not be supported by microsoft in the near future just wondering if it will be a costly upgrade to update when needed? I am being told its not an issue but this will be our first cnc and Im a little hesitant with a new machine that will have outdated software in such a short time? Any advise?

You will be just fine. Windows 7 in the cnc world is hardly antiquated.
In a cnc machine you dont really need new service packs and updates for windows in a similar manner than you would in a desktop machine. I doubt your machine should even be connected to the internet to begin with.
Windows 7 is still so relatively new, that it is doubtful that updating to a win10 mahcine would bring any real benefit over it. Maybe there could be a better menu or graphics somewhere, but who cares. For the machine movements its all the same.
I run a machine with windows nt, and there is zero problems apart from having hard time on loading some bigger 3d files.

So yeah, just enjoy the machine, windows 7 is a rocket ship comparing to many machines still in full production.

We still use Windows Xp on Win 98 Biesse software have no problem fast as windows 10, you can always remote file share between any versions of new windows. Your machine came with Win 7 that means they didn't know bugs and errors and new hardware Win 10 so you will going to have some trouble if you update to Win 10 and also win 10 have many ongoing issues. My suggestion wait for a while and make sure it will work flawlessly in the future time then you can utilize if it is necessary.

biesse ,homag ,scm..
use the pc as "real time " embedded(tpa use in the past same but not anymore)
for you as end user its mean ,you cant do nothing by your self
maybe only change hard disc
all other like pc,system ,net work card...
are all must remind as it was

I own 4 machines with Biesse PC's

Do yourself a huge favor and just use what they have on the machine and make damned sure you run the installer through the grinder with questions and techniques until you have everything down that is needed to run the machine

Send me a pm and I will respond with a maint checklist for the operator and a doc for operation that an installer was kind enough to leave with us

Agreed. A better use of your time would be replacing your hard drive with a SSD .With a HD after 3 years you're living on borrowed time. If you can access the actual win 7 os, you can image the old drive onto the new drive. The new drive will be more reliable, plus you can save the origional HD as a system backup.
