I have been thinking of adding a pump to my business
the kremlin 10:1 pump is a toy. their excite gun is very nice. you can mount a wall mount pump to a hand truck and it will work great for jobsite work. I would buy another cat cart system and call it a day.
been using kremlin 10-14 for past 20 years. great pumps. very simple to rebuild.yes it is only a 10:1 pump but handles 2k urethane with ease.
I'm in a similar boat have an old Kremlin 10-14.
I am in the market for a pump as well. My MLCampbell rep has switched his tune from recommending the CAT 14:1 to a Wagner 28:1. He claims that after a few years the Wagner will still be a work horse and the CAT will need to have been rebuilt numerous times, although he still believes both to be great units. Either way, I am switching over from gravity feed guns and I am sure this will be a game changer for us regardless of what we bring in.
my wagner pump is over 20 years and never rebuilt. works and works. kremlin cheaps out with their smaller pumps and it shows in the spray. they should put a filter unit to stop the pulse in the older 10:1 and the new 15:1. for the money, cat is the best buy. want to buy a pump that will last forever?....bigger kremlins or the wagner spray tech pumps are just great pumps. remember you can put any gun on any pump.
Like Masterblaster mentioned, I bought a used Cat pump for cheap and mounted it on a hand truck, it works fantastic. It may not look as good as some of the fancy carts they make nowadays, but it was cheap.
I'm using a Graco Merkur ES 30:1 pump, 1'8" ID fluid hose. There's 2 CAT 14:1 pumps next to me. Both the CAT pumps need O-ring rebuil;ds for the pistons. The Graco is used very day. The CAT's were used infrequently.
The AAA guns, you can switch out one for the other, Kremlin to CAT to Wagner to Graco.
If you're going to get a CAT, don't get the Cougar gun. The Bobcat gun sprays the same and uses the same parts but it's a much smaller gun with way better ergonomics than the Cougar.
All the guns will yeild great results depending on who is praying. That said, there's a consensus that the Kremlin xCite gun and the Wagner 4700 guns pro\vide the best quality atomized fan. The Wagner boasts using less air to the spray cap and I would think that less air out of the cap translates to LESS clogging of the tip.
My typical settings from the Merkur ES 30:1 are 35 - 40 psi fluid and 23 psi at the air.
I shoot mostly ML Campbell Turino pigmented conversion varnish, sometimes Resistant.
i found the Graco Merkur ESpump to have such a small fluid section the that darn thing pump almost continually which drives me crazy. even the small kremlin cycles less.
"If you're going to get a CAT, don't get the Cougar gun. The Bobcat gun sprays the same and uses the same parts but it's a much smaller gun with way better ergonomics than the Cougar."
That's so confusing to me
Are both guns compatible with parts?
