Hi, Is there anybody who can advise me a good wood finishing book for polishing of solid hard wood furniture in my shop? Thanks in advance for any help.
Understanding wood finishing by Bob Flexner is a good place to start.
Of course Flexner's book on woodfinishing is amazing. But you said for polishing, do you mean buffing to get a machine-produced piano gloss?
There's some Sunset books for car finishing. All of them have chapters on machine polishing cars.
If you want info using the dual pad rubbing machines, you're not gonna find it. To gather info on using those, right here at Woodweb we can tell you our methods and sources of supplies. I have several straightline polishers, including the 30-lb fella.
Google 3M Topcoat Rubbing. They used to have a video. I just found my VHS copy but I would want to digitize this to upload it to youtube. Naturally, it doesn't occur to 3M to digitize and disseminate this great video, especially since dual pad topcoat rubbing is a rare commodity in many finishing shops and factories. Mason & Hamlin Pianos still do topcoat rubbing, right here in America, still.
Jeff Jewitt's "Refinishing Furniture Made Simple" has a good section on polishing and rubbing out finishes
