alternative filler to Bondo

I have a touch up company that uses a filler that is white. It is catalyzed and dries very fast and sands well. The tech doesn't know what it is and they have no label on the can. He said they use it on boats so I thought of fairing compound and got some but it came with a liquid mek catalyst. It takes forever to dry and is too soft and rubbery. I would like to find a product in white. We are not using it for initial filling but for damage repairs on painted surfaces. White is just much easier to cover. Any suggestions?

Might be Marine Tex which is a white filler for boat hulls and dries hard and sandable.

Has anyone used Durhams Rock Hard Putty ? Its a powder that's mixed with water.It can be tinted with dry powders and other water based colorants.

The original product is solvent or catalyzed

The product you bought is catalyzed with mekp which means its polyester resin which means it should be hard like bondo not rubbery.

There is a product called 3m Acryl-White Glazing Putty that is used on boats for final filling. It is solvent based. Smells like acetone very fast drying. Spreads beautifully. Sands like butter.

The autobody version is called Nitro-Stan. Its available in different colors.

Its used for filling pinholes and scratches before you spray.

I've used many tubes of both. The 3m is an excellent product. Actually, 3m only makes excellent products.

White 2-pak filler is usually a knife-grade polyester. The hardner is benzoyl peroxide. Tenaxo is a popular brand, for example. It's a staple of the marble and stone industry. You can get it in clear (translucent), white, and black. It's creamier than bondo.

To use a product that's specifically formulated for furniture and piano repair, Konig makes Rex-Lithe. Supposedy this stuff polishes better or quicker, but I've found no differences between Konig's 2-pak paste and the marble industry knife-grade polyester pastes, except that Konig is approximately twice the price of the marble supply stuff.

I do not have a good time trying to level-sand sanding Nitro-Stan. 3M's lacquer glazing putty does sand a little easier. Both of them won't behave under my use of ML Campbell's conversion varnishes. In my attempts to use these I have to prime or seal them, 1st. For small areas, I use 3M's High Strength spackle. It's lousy, though, for filling 1/2 inch plugs.
