I was recently approached by Houzz about selling on their newly launched marketplace. It seems like it has possibilities, but if anyone here has tried this, I'd appreciate a little feedback before I jump in.
They approached me as well. Have you seen some of the crap they have listed? I told them everything I do is custom etc. no two pieces look the same, different veneer etc.... blah blah blah. Said they were still interested. So I gave them the numbers for what I sold some pieces for and never heard back.... Why sell custom stuff cheap? If you have a product line that you can mass produce then try it but otherwise....
I think its to bad b/c they do have some clientele that are willing to pay but it seems like they cater to the import junk.
I get enough work from houzz with the free subscription as filler work. Maybe 6-8 projects a year...mostly built ins
I do mostly custom work too but do have a few general pieces on HOUZZ. I didn't expect much when they contacted me but after zero effort I've had a few sales in the past few months. Nothing major but its background income so I like it.
