Cabinets pulled from ceiling

Using frameless cabinets with no top molding does anybody leave a small reveal between the cabinets and ceiling and if so how much. Your thoughts please?

I do a lot of layout design for another shop and they always leave a 3/4" drop from the ceiling.

Often times what is called a soffit strip is applied to the top of the cabinets to create the reveal you want .The face of the strip is banded the same as the cabinet face.

We go tight to the ceiling sometimes IF its new construction and IF there are no lights to interfere. We instruct to leave the drywall only attached at the inside corners above where the cabinets will go (in order to tape/mud. Then cabs get pushed up and a few well placed screws inside the uppers will pull the drywall tight to cab top. Other times we let the cab tops get floated into level after install (this goes for sides too. Mind you this is for high end work. Seems quite a few jobs lately have called for no scribes anywhere.
