RE: Used Wide Belt Sander7/1/19
We need to sand 1/2" to 3/8" wood that is 12 to 18 inches wide, and 12 feet long.
What inexpensive sanding machine is recommended without going to a time saver?
Ideally we would like to have 2 or 3 grits.
Is there any good used wood machinery company that we could purchase this from?
What brand sander would you suggest?
It would be a huge help to know how many linear feet a day you want to run. If it's substantial, the labor costs on using a cheap drum sander would be quickly outweighed by the labor savings with a wide belt machine. Cheap does not always save you money!
You should mention what geographical part of the world you are working in, budget, if any, limitations (power, dust collection, etc.).
There are links here on Woodweb for reputable dealers. I have used Exfactory, and IRS - Industrial Recovery Services with no problems. Looking thru their sites, you can see the range of things that can do what you want, and the relative pricing.
If you would like you can private message me. I work for an abrasives company and I calibrate hundreds of wide belt sanders every year. I teach sanding in general. I'm familiar with all brands and I can lead you in the right direction.
