Gentlemen , I am seeking council.
I have a 16/4” Black walnut slab (44”x9’) that has been previously dried twice in a steam kiln. This was a commercial operation, so I trusted them and their experience. The first time the wood started at 46%mc finished 30-35%%mc, the second time got it down to 19-22%mc depending where I checked it. Mind you I am using a Lignomat moisture meter with prongs that only penetrate by 1/8” max. The slab severely cracked up through the slab, at that point I decided to cut it in half and run it through a wide belt sander to check the true MC. It ranges from 22%-30% MC.
I decided to make my own DIY dehumidifier kiln after doing research here. I’m ready to go but I just can’t wrap my head around a proper schedule and understanding the schedule. The closest I can come up with is T3-C2 which is for 12/4”. Also, I did a 5hr test last night and the warmest I could get it was 93*.
I have researched enough to be completly confused.. So this is where I need help as I’m not sure how to proceed and I need to get this project in motion. Your input is much appreciated..
